Literary
translator:
In the period 1987 - 2001 Hrach
Kalsahakian was mostly involved in
translating Armenian literature from
Armenian to Arabic.
He translated the following books:

1) "Men Without
Childhood", by Antranig
Dzarougian, written in the 1960s.
The Arabic translation by Hrach
Kalsahakian is published in 1987 (187
pages, Beirut, Lebanon). Second edition
appeared in 1989, in Aleppo, Syria.
The book is the autobiography of writer
Antranig Dzarougian, who as a 2 year old
child in 1915 was deported with his
mother from the ancestral town of Gurun
in present-day Turkey and marched south
to Syria, finally reaching Aleppo.
Dzarougian describes his early years in
orphanages in Aleppo and Jbeil (Byblos
in Lebanon). This is the story of
thousand children who did not have a
real childhood.
2)
"Life on the
Old Roman Road", by Vahan
Totovents, published in 1933. The Arabic
translation by Hrach Kalsahakian is
published in 1998 (240 pages, Aleppo,
Syria).
Another autobiography, this work
comprises a series of impressions of the
author's childhood in the community of
Mezire, near Kharpert (present-day
Harput / Elazig) in Western Armenia, a
station on the old Roman military road
through Asia Minor. It relates of the
author's parents, his environment and
his life under the Ottoman rule.

"Researches in
the History and Culture of the Orient",
by Dr. Arshak Poladian, Ambassador of
Armenia in UAE. The Arabic translation
by Hrach Kalsahakian is published in
2001 (90 pages, Abu Dhabi, United Arab
Emirates).
The book is a collection of articles by
Dr. Poladian carrying title such as "The
Arab geographers on Armenia and the
Armenians", "Turkish element in Middle
East", "Origin of the Kurds", "Arabic
language in Armenian reality", "Armenian
contribution in Arabic culture", etc.
